The Boathouse at the Marketplace, Orlando, FL

Tuna Tar Tare

The Establishment: Somewhat elegant while still being relaxed

The Wait: We had reservations and were seated immediately, that’s the wonderful thing of planning ahead.

The Staff: We loved our waiter. He was courteous, helpful and funny. All traits that we appreciate.

The Order: The order was all over the place. We started with a yellow fin tuna poke, and I just wanted to taste the different types of oysters they provide. My husband ordered the crispy panko-fried fish of the day, my son chose the Gibson “sandwich king”, my daughter got the Boathouse BBQ burger, and I just wanted a plain steamed 1¼ lb. lobster.

The Food: The tuna poke was delicious. Nice and fresh and the combination of the tuna with the mango and the lime vinaigrette was delightful. The 3 oysters I ordered were fresh and educational for me to just being able to discern the different tastes from the different oysters. One thing that was a little disappointing was the panko-fried fish of the day. The fish was a little burned and they were smaller pieces, and I would have served it in a different vessel, more congruent with the restaurant. Both burgers were good according to the burger connoisseur (my son) and my daughter loved the truffle fries. Their lobster was cooked to perfection, my only thing is, when it comes to lobsters especially, I’m a purist, and always like to have the whole lobster and not the ‘cleaned’ version of it.

The Price: For it being in the Marketplace, the prices are good. Our items ranged from $10- to $29.

The Consensus: Especially my husband and I want to go back to the Boathouse for the exploration of the different oysters. There are other items on the menu that we would love to explore also. So… another one on the list.
