Canton Palace

We don't have to drive into the city just for dim-sum anymore...

Canton Palace, Somerville, NJ

The Establishment: Is on Main Street, so if you don’t find off the street parking, you can park in one of the public parking around the area. Your first impression of the place is that it is small, it is, but there is also another side. I think what I like the most is that you really felt that you walked into a restaurant in Chinatown.

The Wait: We read other reviews which recommended to get there early, to avoid the wait. On Chinese New Year, we got there around noon and were able to get a seat immediately. The following week, we waited about 15 min. Other people waited about the same.

The Staff: The staff is accommodating, amicable and ready to help.

The Order: We went for dim-sum the first time. Chow fun with gravy.

The Food: They were delicious. My husband and I went the following day for lunch, mainly because we wanted to try the chow fun with gravy. I was a little disappointed. It looked perfect, until we ate it and realized it was missing some oyster sauce to give it taste. The dim-sum was still fabulous. That day and the following Sunday.

The Price: The Dim=Sum plates varies from $2.75 to $7.95 and regular dishes run up to $25.00.

The Consensus: We will be back!!!

Update note: And back we have been. Mainly for their dinners. Steamed flounder is my favorite, their ‘pot’ dishes are delicious, as is their beef pan fried noodles.
